License

DRAFTThis page is a working draft, not a final legal document. Don't rely on it for compliance or procurement review.

What a quario license grants, what it doesn't, and where the line between deploying the engine and distributing it falls.

  1. What this covers

This page describes the license for quario: the quario engine and the@quario/* packages. The agreement calls them the Software, except where a product states its own terms. It sits alongside the Terms of Service, which govern the agreement itself. Plans and prices live on thepricing page.

quario is commercial software with readable source. Being able to read the source is not a grant of the rights an open-source license would give you. What you may do with it is set out below.

  2. Evaluation

Evaluation is free and has no time limit. Rendered output carries a watermark while you evaluate. You may evaluate in development, staging, and internal review for as long as you need before licensing anything.

  3. Seats

A seat is a developer who writes report definitions or calls the quario API. Licensed seats remove the watermark. People who receive or read the documents you generate are not seats and need no license of their own.

  4. Deployment

Deployment is unlimited and royalty-free. Servers, environments, containers, and rendered document volume are not counted, metered, or charged for. Once the developers writing definitions hold seats, running the result is not separately licensed.

  5. OEM distribution

Bundling quario into software your customers install, embed, or resell requires an OEM license. Generating documents from your own hosted product is not OEM — that is covered by developer seats. The distinction is whether the engine itself reaches your customer, not how many documents it renders.

  6. License keys

Keys are verified offline. The engine checks the signature on your own infrastructure and never transmits the key, so licensing requires no outbound connection and no license server.

  7. What a license does not permit

    • Removing or obscuring the evaluation watermark without a license.
    • Sublicensing, reselling, or redistributing the engine outside an OEM agreement.
    • [DRAFT PLACEHOLDER — restrictions on use of the readable source (derivative works, competing implementations) to be supplied by counsel.]
  8. Term and renewal

A license is perpetual for every version released while you were licensed: if you stop renewing, what you already deployed keeps working. What renewal covers is set out on thepricing page.

[DRAFT PLACEHOLDER — term, renewal, and survival wording to be supplied by counsel.]

  9. Warranty and liability

[DRAFT PLACEHOLDER — warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability to be supplied by counsel.]
